"I think I'll go for a walk outside now
The summer sun's callin' my name
(I hear ya now)
I just can't stay inside all day
I gotta get out, get me some of those rays

Everybody's smilin', sunshine day
Everybody's laughin', sunshine day
Everybody seems so happy today
It's a sunshine day"

-'Sunshine Day', The Brady Bunch

Did I just quote 'The Brady Bunch'? Oh yeah! Yes, I did. AND while typing this blog, I am listening to the song on YouTube.

This session made me think of that song. It was a beautiful, sunshine day with a beautiful family (and Llama....or is that an alpaca? hmmm). Although it is currently Christmas Eve Eve, I am reliving this warm, late September day and that wonderful golden light. Guys, I am so behind on blogging my sessions, I am still blogging September sessions! Although this week I may be able to catch up.

I absolutely love this session. A wonderful mix of portrait and lifestyle/candid. Such a lovely family and lil' models and one of my favorite locations, Camp Tilikum in Newberg. Can't you just feel the love this family has for each other? Gah, and what a gorgeous couple Matt and Kelsey are!!

I hope you enjoy the photos as much as I do.

Thank you Beilstein family for choosing me! Go forth and keep rockin' on!

"My favorite...
My favorite...
She's my favorite girl, the one I'm always thinking of, that one.
My favorite girl, the one I love."

-'My Favorite Girl'-NKOTB

I cannot explain how wonderful it feels to me to be chosen as a family's photographer repeatedly. It feels flat out amazing! It's so great to see families again and to know that I did something right. Last winter, I had the pleasure of photographing the Glynn family and I was so honored to be chosen to do their photos this year.

The Glynn family is super fun to work with and Megan is one of my cheerleaders, she is so sweet and just edifies me. She is the type of person that just makes you feel good and she wants good for you.

And Miss A, oh my goodness, she is just sweet as can be! Our kiddos go to the same school and when I see her at the school she just beams a giant smile and says 'Hi Ms. Nanci!' And she is smart, she knows what she wants too! She gets into the photo shoot and has her ideas of how to pose. I love it!!! It's so much fun, I love seeing her personality is the photos.

Oh and Megan also introduced me to Woodsnap.com.  I just received my first woodsnap product last week. It's super cool. Your photos on wood. Get your photos printed, don't just keep them hidden in your computer. =D

Thank you SO much Glynn family for choosing me again to photograph you!

Go forth and rock on!

"Come on, take a chance
Get up and start the dance
Let the D.J. shake you
Let the music take you"

-'Everybody'- Madonna

Dance, nanci Imagery

When I arrived at Magnus Tree Farm in Sherwood, Oregon for the Lujan's family session, I realized that I recognized them but I just could not place it. Then when I got out of the car, I realized exactly where I know Holly and Dan from, the torture class at our gym. Holly and I had been emailing each other back and forth regarding the session but we did not realize that we actually know each other. I found it pretty amusing because anyone who does the torture class at the gym, I feel bonded too, even if I don't know their name. We suffered together, therefore we are bonded. =)

Holly and Dan are blessed with two wonderful, handsome, loving boys.  The whole family knows how to have fun. At the end of the session, we had a wee dance party...well, they had a dance party, I captured it.

Thank you Lujan family for choosing me to photograph your delightful family! Go forth, burpee and rock on!

Cute, cute, cute, cute overload"

Get ready to be overloaded with cuteness. This family is so adorable I can hardly handle it. Abby is a very busy momma! She works for George Fox University and  is a fitness guru who inspires many on a daily basis, including myself. You can learn more about her here: http://www.abs-in-progress.com/.  Her main man is a firefighter. And together they make a super, duper strong couple!

When we met for our session, Abby told me that their little man, Mr. C., takes time to warm up to people. He must love the camera because he just lit up right away. The photo above is one of the first shots.  This session was a dream. I love how these turned out. I hope you enjoy them too!

Thank you Burgess family for choosing me to be your photographer. Go forth and continue to rock on!

Stillinger Family Session/Newberg, Oregon Portrait Photographer

"My wish, for you, is that this life becomes all that you want it to,
Your dreams stay big, your worries stay small,
You never need to carry more than you can hold,
And while you're out there getting where you're getting to,
I hope you know somebody loves you, and wants the same things too,
Yeah, this, is my wish."

-Rascal Flatts "My Wish"

It was a gorgeous September day (oh my goodness, I am 2 months behind in blogging!) when I met the Stillinger family. They invited me up to their property in Newberg. When I first arrived, I was immediately drawn to their front door. They bought it (I cannot recall where) and put it in their home. I thought it was so gorgeous and they fit perfectly in front of it.

This session was inspiring and relaxing.  Chad and Lauren's little guy is SO chill and happy. The love was overflowing.

I absolutely love how these images came out. This art, Nancy Imagery, that is captured, photographs, it is created with life,  emotion. I capture it. I do not create it.  Through these images I hope that you can see the excitement, love, energy, and togetherness.

Thank you Stillinger family for inviting me to capture your family! Go forth and rock on!

First Birthday-Milestone Session/Newberg, Oregon Portrait Photographer

"You're the end of the rainbow, my pot of gold,
You're daddy's little girl to have and hold.
A precious gem is what you are,
You're mom-my's bright and shining star.
You're the spirit of Christmas, the star on the tree,
You're the Easter Bunny for mommy and me;
You're sugar, you're spice, you're everything nice,
And you're daddy's little girl."

-Michael Buble "Daddy's little Girl"

Oh boy did I have loads of fun with this session! It was Miss J's first birthday and it was a sunny/overcast day in early September. Sunny/overcast day, you question? Yeah, you know, a not so uncommon day in the Pacific Northwest. There was rain and then it was super sunny and then came the gloom and then rain again.

But yeah, this session was extra fun for a few reasons, One, it was her special day. Two, because mom and dad were super chill and fun and were up for adding in some extra fun. Three, it was fun watching dad dote on his daughter, making sure her headband was 'just right' before each shot and fixing her dress so it was perfect (see above image).  Four, capturing this little family's love for each other and five, dad is into photography also so he knew exactly how to help me out. It was awesome!

We did the session on the family's gorgeous property and both grandma's were able to be there also. It was so sweet seeing her interact with her grandma's, she is so loved!

Mom had the idea to bring out her balls from her ball pit. This was my favorite part. The three of them seemed to have fun playing together and were in the moment and I enjoyed capturing the moment.

There is also a pond on the property, which I almost lost my shoe in. I had slipped into the pond and my shoe slipped off. Thankfully, I did not fully fall into the pond and my camera was completely safe.

Thank you so much Kimberly, Jordan and Miss J for letting me be apart of this important time!

Lil' Miss J, go forth, grow and rock on!

Pieper Family Session/Hillsboro, Oregon Photographer

"I'm gonna soak up the sun
I got my 45 on
So I can rock on"

'Soak Up the Sun'- Sheryl Crow

The Pieper session! I have so much to say about this shoot. I was so thrilled when Sarah asked me to photograph her family. I had the privilege of photographing her second son's 1st birthday photos a year ago and I was looking forward to seeing them again.

Let me start by talking about what happened before the session. Sarah wanted to do the session at a creek and we had a few places in mind but she wanted to check them out first. I too wanted to check out one of the locations because I was not sure it would be a good creek for a session. So I took my boys out to the location and guess who I see there? Yep, Sarah and her kiddos. She too was checking out the spot to see if it would be a good session spot. I thought that was pretty funny.

We decided that it would not be  a good fit and we decided on Rood Bridge Park.  On the  day of the session, oh my goodness was it hot! No, it was not just hot, it was humid. So very humid. Not great weather for a photo session. But they handled it so very well. We wanted to do photos by the water but it was just so darn humid. Did I mention that it was humid? Yeah, I am not used to humidity. Do you see in the above photo how wet he is?

Ok, moving on.....We started at the bridge and as we were all set-up for the first shot, the ducks arrived. And with the ducks  came a multitude of children that wanted to see the momma duck and her ducklings.  So we waited. The ducks left and so did the kiddos. I set-up the shot again and guess what happens? The ducks wanted to cross the bridge again. So the kids came back. We waited. They ducks left. I set-up again. And guess what happened. I kid you not. The ducks wanted to cross again. The kids came back to see the ducks. We waited. And then the ducks crossed again. I literally said, "Are you kidding me ducks?!" BUT this time, the Piepers were behind the ducks and the other kids were out of the way (this time!) and the shot was perfectly lined up. And finally the ducks went back to the water and we were able to officially start the session.

The Pieper family rocks, they were so patient but busy. Can you be patient and busy also. Hmmm, well, they were. And I love it!  We ran, we did bubbles, we played games and we all rocked it!

Thank you So much Peiper family for choosing me again! I had a hot, sticky, fun time with you and I look forward to working with you again!

Go forth, soak up the sun and rock on!

Hettervig Family/Extended Family Session/ Oregon City, Oregon Photographer

"Wow look at you now
Flowers in the window
It's such a lovely day
And I'm glad you feel the same
Cause to stand up, out in the crowd
You are one in a million
And I love you so
Lets watch the flowers grow"

Travis- "Watch the Flowers Grow"

I had such a delightful afternoon with Cheryl and her family.  The grounds were absolutely stunning, the weather was sunny and warm as is Cheryl and her family.  They welcomed me like an old family friend. Frankly, I didn't want to leave. I just wanted to keep photographing them and chatting.  They are genuine, chill, funny people. The kind that you want to BBQ with.

The little man of the family is such a character with a happy spirit. He is the one that first showed me how funny my squeaky booty is. If you do not know what my squeaky booty is, well, you should just see me in action.

At the end of the session I was gifted with some deliciously ripe tomatoes, cucumbers and corn from the Hettervig garden. Mr. Hettervig thoughtfully picked them out for me. When I came home, my eldest son was in heaven. He loves cucumbers and eats them like an apple.

You know, just thinking of them reminds me that a little thoughtfulness and kindness goes a long way. Being welcomed to the Hettervig home, trusting me with capturing their family, picking veggies special for me and enough for me to share with my family made me feel like I am apart of a community and that I am cared for even though they had just met me. Each one of them showed me kindness and it made me feel good. Not for just the day, but when I think of that day and this family, a smile comes to my heart.

Thank you Cheryl and family for letting me be apart of your day! Go forth and rock on!!

"Two lil' kids with a flow you ain't ever heard
And none faking you can understand every word
As you listen to my cool school melody
The Daddy makes you J-U-M-P"

-Kriss Kross

It was a lovely September afternoon when I met the Williams family. As I type this , it is Halloween, pouring down rain and windy. Heavy rain AND wind is my least favorite weather combination. Hmmmm, no, make that heavy rain, wind and cold. Nope, snow. Snow, wind and cold is my least favorite.

Ok, back on track. This day was beautiful. And this family was picture perfect!  So why the Kriss Kross lyrics? Why naturally because that song is awesome. Reminds me of my youth. And also because the song popped in my head when I thought of the Williams kiddos. Towards the end of our session the kiddos enjoyed jumping off my steps that I use for sessions. And they had some wicked jumping skills.

So regardless of the downpour that is happening right now, I am going to get zombified anyway. I hope it stops in time for trick or treating!

Thank you Williams family for choosing me to photograph your jumpin' family! Go forth and rock on!

'What'll I give just to hold you close

In heaven we will be together baby
Together again ma baby

©Nanci Imagery-8621.jpg

I first met the Jarmer family in April of 2014 when I photographed this sweet family.

April, 2014

After our first session together Kristine and I would run into each other at the gym.  I enjoyed seeing Kristine and her adorable little man. I had seen him here and there at the gym but I had not seen her daughter since our last session. So when we met on the day of our current session, I was shocked. I could not believe how much she had grown. I know, it's such a cliché and of course when one does not see a child for some time, it is expected to see how they have grown. But still....I don't know, it's surprising.

These two kiddos so tenderhearted with each other. Big sister seems to enjoy being a big sister and bro adores her. It was delightful watching the two of them together.

It truly brings me joy when I get to see families again that I have photographed in years past. Thank you dearly Jarmer family for choosing me to photograph your family. Mom and dad, you are doing an amazing job raising up these sweet kiddos.

Go forth and continue to teach and  lead in love and kindness and of course, rock on!

"I feel it
It's coming

Rain
Feel it on my fingertips
Hear it on my window pane
Your love is coming down like
Rain"

'Rain"- Madonna

It's the end of August. Portland has had a dry Summer. However, on this particular Summer day, as I was on my way to the shoot with the Redfields, I drove through the dark grey rain clouds. I drove through the buckets of rain. Thinking to myself, "Really, really? Rain now?!" I continued to drive to the shoot anyway. I drove through the rain and came out into the sun. Phew.

I get to the location and as we are discussing the shoot, the rain starts coming down on us. Then it really starts pouring. We ran to cover and we decided that we would wait a bit to see if the rain would pass. It did not look like it was going to. But it did and I am so glad that we decided to wait it out.

The sun shinning and then being blocked by the clouds created a challenge for me that day but these three kiddos did not. They were so easy to work with. Full of light and personality.

May God bless and keep you always
May your wishes all come true
May you always do for others
And let others do for you
May you build a ladder to the stars
And climb on every rung
May you stay forever young
Forever young, forever young
May you stay forever young." -Bob Dylan

I first met Miss E when I photographed her for her 3rd birthday session at the super fun Rocket Fizz (http://www.rocketfizz.com/). At three, she was filled with a playful spirit which was so fun to capture.

I also got to photograph her for her fourth birthday session where she got to dress -up as a princess and twirl. At first she was reserved and I knew her silly, playful personality was still there but I enjoyed seeing this other side of Miss E. Some of my favorite photos from this session were where she was showing her quiet, hesitant side.

Miss E recently celebrated her fifth birthday and I am so honored to be chosen again to document this special time. This time we choose the beautiful Camp Tilikum as our location (http://camptilikum.org/). Miss E showed up ready and excited for her time in front of the camera. This girl is a natural! Her personality just shines. Fun, sweet, silly, smart and playful.  I love how the photos turned out and I love reconnecting with people that I photographed previously. Especially little ones, it's fun to see their personalities flourish.

Happy 5th Miss E!  Go fourth and rock your sixth year!!

“Tiny hands, yes, that's you
And all you show, it's simply true
I smell your breath, it makes me cry
I wonder how I've lived my life

'Cause without you how did I get through
All of my days, without you?
Now living with you, see every thing's true
My baby, it's you, my baby, my baby, my baby"

-Britney Spears, “My Baby”

3 month milestone session

Oh boy! Just look at the grin! Sweet Mr. T was happy as can be for our session. It is so fun to see the interest in his eyes as he experienced new things....or things he may not have not figured out quite yet. When he was laid down on the blanket, his interest was peaked by the huge tree above him and the light coming through.  At one point, I laid down next to him to experience for myself what he was looking at and I tried to visualize how it may look to him. And I wondered how he experienced what he saw. Do you ever do that when you notice a baby deep in interest, their focus locked on? I think it's a nice perspective to remember how everything is new for them, things that we take for granted or things that we just don't acknowledge as interesting anymore.

Due to his interest in the tree, I decided to have him interact with his momma, Amber,  to get some smiles.  As you can see from his reaction, he adores his momma! We got some great shots of him playing with mom and when he decided was done he showed me the cutest/saddest pouty face. What made it even more adorable was that Amber seemed to feel his pain as she was making the same face!

Thank you Amber for choosing me to capture your precious gift! Go forth and keep on rockin'!

"Love me tender,
love me sweet,
never let me go.
You have made my life complete,
and I love you so.

Love me tender,
love me true,
all my dreams fulfilled.
For my darlin' I love you,
and I always will."

-"Love Me Tender" by Elivs Presely

Mother's love- Nanci Imagery

When I think of the Wardin family, the words 'gentle' and 'tender' come to my mind. The way they speak and interact with each other is with such patience and benevolence. They are genuine and a true pleasure to be around.

I met Jessica through our church and I always enjoyed seeing her husband, Daniel,  baby wearing their youngest sweet boy during the service. Seriously, seeing a man wearing their baby in a carrier makes my heart smile.  I had the pleasure of getting to know Jessica a bit better through a parenting bible study which I thoroughly enjoyed. Jessica has a huge heart and is devoted to God and her family.

The day of our session was hot but we found an escape from the heat up at Bald Peak State Park. Up there, it was lovely and the sun peaking through the trees was beautiful. Ah....Oregon, I love you! The kids were just like their parents, tender with each other and a joy to work with.  I enjoyed learning about how Daniel and Jessica met (hint- she pursued him!). One of my favorite parts about my job is talking with people and learning a bit about their story. I find people fascinating and I was surprised to hear that Jessica pursued him. I love it!

I really love how these images turned out. The family, the love, the adorable kiddos, the light, the beauty of Oregon. I love it all.

Thank you Wardin family for choosing me to capture your family!  Go forth a tenderly rock on!

Sacramento in May-Newberg/Portland Area Photographer

"Crazy, I'm crazy for feeling so lonely
I'm crazy, crazy for feeling so blue
I knew you'd love me as long as you wanted
And then someday you'd leave me for somebody new
Worry, why do I let myself worry?
Wond'ring what in the world did I do?
Crazy for thinking that my love could hold you
I'm crazy for trying and crazy for crying
And I'm crazy for loving you
Crazy for thinking that my love could hold you
I'm crazy for trying and crazy for crying
And I'm crazy for loving you."
-Patsy Cline

"Crazy". It's the song that automatically popped in my head when I sat down to type this post. Because my family is crazy? Well, we do have some craziness about us but no. It's a song that I remember my mom singing often when I was young. I can her her voice so clearly as I think of it. She  even recorded it. My mom loves to sing, when she sings you can see and feel her joy.

I miss my family. I do not get to see them enough. I miss my niece and nephews deeply. They are growing up so darn fast that it aches my heart. When we first brought my second son home from the hospital I knew I wanted more kids. Seeing how the two brothers interacted in love and play made my heart swell. And this is how I feel when I see my boys with their cousins, I miss those bonding face to face talks with my sisters.  Some things only they understand. No one else can. I miss my bros slapstick sense of humor, my dad's bear hugs and  my mom brings us all together. I miss my friends that knew me 'way back when'.   I want to see them more often. Time goes by and the next thing you know, too much time has gone by and we are all a year older.

Another reason why I love photographs...
